I am the treasurer of Morley Digital, a voluntary community organisation providing free IT help and support to the general public.  We have contracted with Steve Thompson, Ledgard Consulting, as a sessional tutor to provide the technical and detailed IT support to our customers. He has been doing this for us and a previous residents group for over five years. 

 

He has delivered the face to face and video conference sessions with meticulous attention to detail and professionalism. Our participants have appreciated his help and support with their issues, his recommendations and free access to the learning material he has produced.

first met Steve in 2021 when I joined the Computing group of which he is the Technical leader.

I came to the group as someone who had worked with computers as an Industrial Chemist. So although I had plenty of experience, Steve has transformed my knowledge of digital technology in a continuous, thorough and friendly way.

He has got a tremendous amount of knowledge from his time with BT on the deeper nature of this important an constantly changing technology, showing a willingness to share this in a friendly extremely competent way. I find that most folk who come in contact with him experience the same feeling.

He has given me and our group practical face-to-face instruction on mobile phones and the intricacies of Microsoft Windows so that I feel more confident in handling both my phone, tablet and laptop in some depth. We've also covered problems with Password management, efficient data storage, safe working practices and dealing with scams.

As I say, all this is done in a friendly,approachable way. It is a pleasure to work with him on these important new ways which are having such an impact on all our lives.

Just wanted to thank and recommend Stephen Thompson who has recently fixed /reconnected my WiFi printer.
I was literally at the end of my tether with the thing and had literally spent hours following manufacturer's instruction manual to try and reconnect it and was on the verge of just throwing it out as I believed it was not fixable. Stephen quickly and efficiently fixed the problem and clearly explained the issue to me. He saved my sanity and would certainly recommend for any computer-related issues or training.

Steve delivered a 6-week iPad for Beginners Course for MAECare. The course was very accessible and Steve made sure that it was pitched at the correct level for our members. The ‘Train the Trainer’ course is designed to teach you how to teach others but it doesn’t matter how IT aware you think you are, the course will throw up something you didn’t know. In addition it provides comprehensive hand-outs to enable you to pass on your skills to a novice in a focused well structured plan.
